Six months ago, Melisa Palmour found out her mom, Vickie Clark, needed a kidney transplant. She didn’t hesitate and donated one of her own kidneys.
“Grateful doesn’t even describe how I feel about what she did for me,” Clark said.
While Clark has had her ups and downs with the anti-rejection drugs she must take (her current medication is working out nicely, thanks for asking), Palmour has passed her post-surgery testing with flying colors and just need a yearly checkup.
“People need to know how easy it is for donors,” said Palmour, who had never had surgery before the transplant. “I think more people would do it if they only knew how little of an inconvenience it is.”
I have been contacted by a mom who would like to speak with a child, (and the parent,) that has donated to a parent. Would Vickie be interested in helping someone else through the process. If yes, please contact me.
Thank you.
